Social, especially regional, commitment is of the utmost importance to us.
Uhlmann & Zacher was founded in Waldbüttelbrunn in 1990 and stands by its headquarters. That's why we also support the DjK Waldbüttelbrunn. Club life, especially in sports clubs, is an integral part of life for many. We would therefore like to promote active club life in our home country.
The DjK has over 800 members and offers sporting activities for all age groups: from children's gymnastics to football, handball and volleyball for young people to back fitness for the older generation. A handball team even plays in the Regionalliga, the highest division in Bavaria.
We also donate every Christmas to a regional association that is particularly socially committed. We are pleased that last year we were able to donate 1,000 euros to the parent initiative Rainbow for children with leukemia and tumors in Würzburg. The association has set itself the task of positively influencing the entire environment of affected families. For example, several apartments have been rented in the immediate vicinity of the Würzburg University Hospital to help parents and relatives be close to the affected children. The parents' initiative also finances, among other things, the family-friendly equipment of the three oncology children's wards at the University Children's Hospital in Würzburg and offers psychosocial care for the entire family during and after therapy.
The topic of sustainability is becoming increasingly important for companies. That's why we've had the climate-neutral company label for several years. From January 1, 2024, Uhlmann & Zacher will also use the sustainable shipping GoGreen Plus Basic from DHL. In concrete terms, this means that the sustainable fuel SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) is used for shipments by plane. SAF is obtained from environmentally friendly sources, such as waste oil or residues from agriculture and forestry. This allows greenhouse gas emissions to be reduced by up to 80% over the entire life cycle compared to conventional kerosene. In this way, around 30% of CO2 emissions are saved for every TDI shipment. We are pleased to be making a further contribution to climate protection.
Furthermore, Uhlmann & Zacher has once again been confirmed as a “climate-neutral company”. In cooperation with CO2OP, Uhlmann & Zacher sets an individual CO2 balance since 2019.
U&Z uses three different measures to neutralize its own CO2 footprint. First of all the entire team strives for in-house savings by consistent energy management measures. When it comes to sourcing materials, the company prefers products and services with a low footprint. To neutralize the remaining unavoidable emissions, Uhlmann & Zacher supports climate projection projects.
